The Roots

House of Blues

November 30, 1997

I love The Roots. Hot beats, melodies and rhymes. Human beatbox Rahzel, anyone?

But, they disappointed me at this show. They only got "on" halfway through the set, and by then, it seemed like a lost cause. Drummer Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson kept dropping his sticks. It was funny once, but not three times.

The Roots were much better when they played the first Voodoo fest in '99. They had a party atmosphere going on, and Rahzel was in control, wowing the crowd. There was a positive vibe, and everything seemed to go smoother for the band.

The Roots are still the best hip-hop band in the land.
