Live New Orleans

Soundgarden

UNO Lakefront Arena

July 25, 1994

Decent Australian rock band You Am I opened up the show. I went with my friend Ryan, and expectations were high. Soundgarden were riding high on the success of Superunknown and "Black Hole Sun."

Unfortunately, Soundgarden was a horrible live band, for some reason. Maybe cause they're so serious, and they look like they're going through the motions. Bassist Ben Shepherd threw such malicious gazes that I thought he'd rather kill the audience than play for them. The band was stoic, but they did play "Kickstand," a favorite of mine. Note: my opinion of them as a sucky live band was confirmed when they sucked once again at Lollapalooza 1996.

Setlist: Jesus Christ Pose, Spoonman, Let Me Drown, Mailman, The Day I Tried to Live, My Wave, Room a Thousand Years Wide, Black Hole Sun, Searching With My Good Eye Closed, Superunknown, Rusty Cage, Half, Mind Riot, Fell on Black Days, Drawing Flies, Ugly Truth, Slaves and Bulldozers, Kickstand, Face Pollution, Like Suicide, Head Down.
