The Fire Theft

House of Blues

March 16, 2004

The Fire Theft was 3/4's of Seattle emo godfathers Sunny Day Real Estate. While SDRE was more about keeping a gloomy mood going through similar sounding songs, The Fire Theft allowed themselves much more range when they played the House of Blues Tuesday night. Some of their stuff was straight pop/rock, some more prog rock, some more classic rock, while some of it was a good mix of all these.

Then there's always lead singer/guitarist Jeremy Enigck, who would make any band sound better with his amazing vocal ability and the amount of soul that comes out of his lungs. Enigck, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, was not afraid to throw his body around and rock, though sometimes it was to the off-kilter rhythms of drummer William Goldsmith. The band moved me, and they put on a great show. I will buy their album.
